How Does Sculptra® Work?
As we age, collagen production in the skin decreases, contributing to the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds. Sculptra® stimulates your body to replace lost collagen, gradually restoring a youthful fullness to your face. Sculptra® is a synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid.” Poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). Poly-L-lactic acid has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants. Sculptra® is injected below the surface of the skin in tissue loss. Sculptra® provides a gradual increase in skin thickness by increasing the body’s own collagen production. Visible results appear within 6 to 12 weeks.

About the Procedure
Before starting the Sculptra® injection, the health practitioner will carefully examine the face for volume loss and the areas for injection. The health practitioner will continue by marking down the injections sites and proceed to inject local anesthetic to ensure maximum comfort during the treatment period. After numbing the injection site, the health practitioner will inject Sculptra® into multiple areas to help facilitate the collagen production. Overall treatment time may take 30 minutes to one hour.
Sculptra® is requiring multiple treatment sessions to produce optimal results, and patients may need 2 – 4 treatment sessions based on their own conditions. Each treatment will be spaced apart differently.
Treatment results will differ for each person. In a clinical study, results lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session in most patients. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect. Our health practitioners will give you special aftercare instructions. These include massaging the treated areas of your face in the first five days after the treatment. All you require is five minutes, five times a day.
